Temperate Alaska

The ancestral home

of the Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian people, is a place made of water. Countless islands are surrounded by incredibly productive marine habitat, and the dense, old forests that grow on land there are adapted to hundreds of inches of rain per year. Rivers cascade from the valleys and frozen torrents of ice called glaciers grind down the towering mountain ranges little by little.
